Located in Brisbane's northern suburb of Everton Park, Next Steps Kindy is a ministry of Northside Christian College and Nexus Church.
Christian Kindy
Christian values are the basis of our culture at Next Steps Kindy. We recognise that each child is created by God and individually valuable. Each staff member has their own personal Christian faith. We care for and educate children in a safe, secure and engaging environment from a Christian world-view.
Our play-based educational program revolves around developing values of Christian character, modelling gratitude, joy, self-control, generosity, courage, gratitude and humility as children interact with their teachers and peers. As part of our program, we have the children’s pastor from Nexus Church visit us for devotions regularly throughout the year.
Our goal is to prepare children for the best start at school and educate them to discover their God-given potential.

Transitioning to school
Effective transition programs are based on strong relationships and communication between the child, their family, Kindy, the school and the community.
At Next Steps we are blessed to be part of the Northside Christian College campus. Throughout the year we visit facilities like the Library and Oval and participate in events with the Junior School such as Under 8’s day and Sports day.
Near the end of the Kindy year, the children enjoy visits to Junior school chapel and the Prep classrooms to experience Prep and meet some of the teachers. This is a wonderful opportunity to build a support network and provide a positive experience for starting school.

Kindergarten Teacher, Part Time
An exciting opportunity exists for a Part-Time Kindergarten Teacher commencing Term 1, 2025. This position is a five-day fortnight, working Monday, Tuesday and every second Wednesday.
Next Steps Kindy offers a warm, nurturing, happy workplace with dedicated Educators and management and offers an abundance of support and a highly experienced team.
We are looking for a qualified, passionate Teacher who will have:
- Registration with the Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) or eligibility
- Early Childhood Teacher (ECT) qualification or ACECQA assessed equivalent qualification
- Knowledge and experience in Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (2024 version) and National Quality Framework & Assessment process
- Demonstrated passion working with children and evidence of being an effective teacher in an early childhood setting
- Understanding of Education and Care Services National Regulations
- Senior first aid and resuscitation, approved Asthma and Anaphylaxis training certificate
- Genuine Christian commitment and the desire to teach from a Christian worldview
